Samford Volleyball Kicks Season Off In The Music City

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team will kick of the 2007-08 season Saturday as they travel to the Nashville, Tenn., to play in the Magic/Music City Classic. The annual tournament pits two teams from both Birmingham, Ala., and Nashville against one another and Samford is joined this year by fellow Magic City team and cross-town rival UAB and Music City teams Belmont University and host team Lipscomb University. The Bulldogs have prepared heavily for the past three weeks, and Samford head coach Michelle Durban is delighted with her team's energy and preseason preparation. "I have been very pleased with our preseason," Samford head coach Michelle Durban said. "The girls have worked very hard and are further along this year than ever before. It will be interesting to see how we respond to a different team across the net because we have been very competitive in our own gym the last two weeks." Samford will take on Lipscomb on Saturday at noon and then will play Belmont at 4 p.m. A full recap and results will be available on www.samfordsports.com at the conclusion of the second game.
