Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina A&T State used 14-service aces and got 15 kills from Amanda Padilla to defeat Samford University 30-27, 30-21, 30-23 Sunday afternoon.

Samford (11-16) dropped its fourth-straight match. Poor hitting continues to plague the Bulldog attack. Samford managed only a .140 hitting percentage collecting 34 kills and 19 errors. Whitney Miller had seven kills, Stefanie Pickett had six kills and Shellie Ouldhouse and Kristin Berryman each had five kills to lead Samford's attack. Berryman was Samford's most effective hitter with a .714 percentage (5 kills, 0 errors, 7 attacks)

NC A&T (20-13) hit .261 on the afternoon and out-dug the Bulldogs 47-41. The Lady Aggies jumped out to 15-8 lead in game one and fought off a later Samford rally to take the opener. In game two, A&T used a 7-0 run to break open a 12-12 tie. The new let service rule paid dividends for A&T as seven of their 14 aces came on balls that touched the top of the net. Game three was tied at 18 before the Lady Aggies closed out the match with a 12-5 run. The match ended appropriately on a Samford overpass which was killed by Danesha Taylor who had 10 kills for A&T.

Samford will have to regroup quickly as it returns home for Senior Night on Monday. The Bulldogs host Grambling in a 7 p.m. match. SU's two seniors Miller and Ouldhouse will be honored prior to the match.
