Samford falls to Alabama in Three

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Samford volleyball team stuggled in the opening two games of its match at Alabama on Tuesday night before falling three games to none.

Samford drops to 6-6 on the season with the loss while Alabama improves to 10-3.

Alabama came out strong in game one and used a 10-4 run to build an 11-5 lead and went on to win 15-6. Game two, was all Alabama as the Bulldogs had a negitive hitting percentage while Alabama hit .625 to win 15-3.

Samford woke up in game three and played its best game of the night. The Bulldogs hit .225 in game three and Ashley Fulton had seven of her team-high eight kills in the third game. But with the game tied at 10-10, a tough call went against Samford and the Crimson Tide took the final five points to win 15-10.

Fulton also led the Bulldogs in digs with six and Whitney Miller contributed seven kills for the Bulldogs.

Monica Morales led Alabama with 10 kills and Michelle Green had nine kills for the Tide.

Samford will host the State Farm/Samford Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs will face Tennessee State on Friday at 7 p.m. at Seibert Hall.
