CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Samford sophomore Kristen Upp defeated Jacksonville State's Leslie Gordan 6-0, 6-1 in the consolation final of the UTC Fall Classic on Sunday.

Upp was forced to winning three-straight matches after dropping her main draw match to Tennessee-Martin's Olivia Shipley 6-0, 6-3. She was able to defeat UTC's Snipes and Murray State's Lee before defeating Gordan in the consolation final.

Samford senior Courtney Collins won her first two matches on Saturday defeating Murray State's Kerry Lea Glass 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the opening round and Georgia State's Jovana Krsikara 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 in the second round. Collins was upended in the third round by Jacksonville State's Vanessa Gomez 6-2, 6-2.
