Women's Tennis Ranked In Regional Top 15

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford University women's tennis team is ranked in the top 15 of the 2008 Women's Division I final regional rankings that were released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Bulldogs earned the 13th spot in the South Regional and join the company of many of the top programs in the southeast.

The Samford women ended the season with a 20-6 overall record and an undefeated record in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Bulldogs earned their third conference title and their third NCAA Tournament berth in five years along with their second consecutive regular-season championship.

The University Florida grabbed the top spot in the regional rankings followed but Georgia Tech, Georgia, Miami and Samford's NCAA first round opponent Florida State. Auburn comes in at sixth place followed by South Florida at seventh, Florida International at eighth, South Alabama at ninth and Ole Miss at tenth. Alabama, Mississippi State, Samford, Troy and Southern Mississippi round out the top 15.
