Samford Women Take On Cross-Town Foe In Afternoon Match

March 27, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford women's team hit the courts Wednesday to take on cross-town opponent UAB in an afternoon match at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion on the Samford University campus.

The Samford women (9-2, 7-0 OVC) come off a great weekend in which they claimed their sixth and seventh OVC wins to continue their undefeated conference streak. The Bulldogs were victorious over the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky (6-1) and the Morehead State Eagles (7-0).

The Blazers are coming off their 10th win of the season over Lehigh, 6-1. UAB is 10-1 on the season and undefeated in the Conference-USA.

UAB head coach Mert Ertunga is just one win away from his 200th win, and he and the Blazers are looking to get that win over Samford on Wednesday.

Match play begins at 2 p.m. at the Pat. M. Courington Tennis Pavilion on the west side of Samford's campus. For a full recap and results of Wednesday's action, visit www.samfordsports.com.
