Women's Tennis Looks To Extend Win Streak

Feb. 8, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford women's tennis team is set to take on two non-conference opponents this weekend, Feb. 8 and 9 in Memphis, Tenn. The Bulldogs will face Southern Illinois before a late afternoon match-up with host team Memphis.

The Bulldogs head into this weekend's pair of matches on a two-match win string to start spring play. Samford hopes to extend that streak with wins over these non-conference competitors to head into Ohio Valley Conference play with Jacksonville State on Wednesday undefeated.

Southern Illinois, member of the Sun Belt Conference, is also undefeated with two wins. The Salukis come off wins over Dayton and Wright State and look to extend their winning streak.

Memphis, out of Conference USA, is only two games into its spring season, with only one win and won loss. The Tigers come off a loss to Arkansas-Little Rock, but hope to bounce back into winning action this weekend.

Match play with Southern Illinois begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. After a small break, Samford will then take on Memphis at 3 p.m. at WellWorx. A full recap and results of each match will be available on www.samfordsports.com.
