Three Bulldogs Earn Wins On Final Day Of UNF Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - On the final day of the 2008 UNF Fall Invitational, a trio of Samford women's tennis players picked up victories in consolation action held at the University of North Florida Tennis Complex. Earning wins for the Bulldogs were Rebecca Kirven, Lindsey Mallory and Karen Niszl. Kirven tallied a straight-set victory over Jacksonville's Elvina Yusupova, 6-4, 6-1, while Niszl held off a late rally from Stetson's Daniella Palmiotto, 6-3, 3-6, 11-9. Mallory, Samford's sophomore from Louisville, Ky., steamrolled Boston College's Andrea Paez, 6-0, 6-0. In tournament play, the Bulldogs' Stephanie Parkison suffered her first defeat of the weekend Sunday against Troy's Leonie Giujt in the semifinal round of singles action. The score of the match was 6-1, 6-2. The Samford University women's tennis team will next be in action Friday-Sunday as the Bulldogs travel to Houston, Texas, for the 2008 Rice Fall Invitational.
