Samford Women Keep Streak Alive Against Jacksonville State

April 3, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. ---- The Samford women's tennis team kept their undefeated conference streak alive Tuesday as they grabbed their eighth conference win of the season over Jacksonville State. The Bulldogs improve to 10-3 overall, 8-0 in the conference.

The Samford women came out and took the first two doubles matches, clinching the doubles point. White/McKey took the first match on the No. 1 court while Bethany Benson joined Anna Jackson in the absence of Whitnie Warren to take the win at the No. 2 court.

Anna Jackson claimed the first singles match for the Bulldogs at the No. 1 court, while Emily White continues her undefeated streak at the No. 3 court. Sarah McKey won the final singles match for Samford at the No. 4 court.

"We definately didn't play our best tennis today," Samford head coach Terri Sisk said. "We came out a little sloppy in singles against a very hungry JSU team. I thought we rebounded fairly well in doubles today considering the extremely windy conditions and missing Whitnie Warren. I do believe we needed this match today to shake us up a little to remind us that every team we play is dangerous and if you aren't on your toes then you could come up short."

The Bulldogs will be back in action Friday as they join the men in their final conference home match against Tennessee Tech. Match play begins at 1 p.m.
