BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford's Stanka Ilkova defeated Georgia State's Mable Abraham 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in number one singles in the final match of the afternoon to give the Bulldogs a 4-3 Trans America Athletic Conference tennis victory on Monday afternoon.

Samford (8-9, 1-1 TAAC) took the doubles point as Emily Nunnally and Hermien du Toit and Kathrine Jayroe and Kristien Upp each took victories. Singles play turned out to be a draw as Samford's Courtney Collins and du Toit each took straight-set victories. Du Toit suffered a sprained ankle in the second set of her match but played through to remain perfect at 6-0 on the year.

Georgia State's (3-11, 1-4 TAAC) Jovana Krsikapa, Mojca Pavlinic, and Rebecca Mitchell took their matches in straight-sets. The only match to go three sets was Ilkova and Abraham to decide the match.

After splitting the first two sets, Abraham took the first game of the third set. Ilkova responded by taking five of the next seven games to lead 5-3. Abraham held serve at 5-4, but Ilkova held serve in the tenth game of the set for the victory.
