Women's Tennis Falls In First Match Of AUM Blue-Gray Jamboree

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Samford women's tennis dropped its first match in the Blue-Gray Jamboree Thursday evening by a 7-2 decision to NCAA Division II No. 2 team, Armstrong Atlantic. The four-day event is hosted by Auburn University-Montgomery at the AUM Tennis Center and the Lagoon Park Tennis Courts. The win gave the Bulldogs (10-4) their fourth loss of the season while the Pirates kept their record spotless and move to 17-0. Taylor Morgan and Lindsey Mallory won the only doubles match for the Bulldogs at the No. 2 court. The duo defeated Martina Beckmann and Alida Mulles-Wehlau, 8-3. Samford dropped matches at the first five singles court. Katie Weaver went three sets with Beckmann at the No. 4 court before falling, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. Lindsey Mallory won her match at the No. 6 spot, defeating Alisa Kaghkina, 6-3, 7-6. The Bulldogs will face Lindsey Wilson Friday evening in the second day of the AUM Blue-Gray Jamboree.
