Women's Tennis Drops Tight Match To Belmont
March 21, 2003
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford University's women's tennis team won three of six singles matches against Belmont Friday, but losing the doubles point came back to haunt the Bulldogs for the third time this season, and the Bruins escaped with a 4-3 win.
Emily Nunnally (No. 1), Jen Pharr (No. 4) and Jenny Walls (No. 5) each won in straight sets for Samford. But loses at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6, plus the doubles point, left the Bulldogs with a 5-8 overall record.
Samford and Spring Hill have canceled their match scheduled for Saturday, March 22. The Bulldogs are scheduled to be in action again at Faulkner State on Monday.
