Tennis Drops Tough Matches to Georgia State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford Women's Tennis Team could not get over the hump against a short-handed Georgia State squad and the Samford men fell short in tight match after tight match as Georgia State took a pair of matches from Samford on Friday.

The Samford ladies won the doubles point by virtue of Courtney Collins and Emily Nunnally's 8-6 victory over the GSU duo of Maria Soerenson and Nina Jansen. Georgia State forfeited the third doubles match and the fifth and sixth singles matches so the Bulldogs needed to just win one of the remaining singles matches but were unable to due so. Georgia State took the match 4-3 to drop Samford to 10-5 on the season but 0-3 in the Atlantic Sun.
