BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak with a convincing 6-1 victory over UNC Asheville at the Samford Tennis Courts on Friday.

The homestanding Bulldogs took the doubles points and five of the six singles matches to improve to 4-3 on the season. Samford had dropped its last two matches 4-3 but came out Friday determined not to lose on its home court.

Katherine Jayroe, Courtney Collins, and Jennifer Pharr each had victories at Numbers 2, 3, and 4 to insure Samford the victory after claiming the doubles point. The only UNCA victory of the day came at No. 1 singles. Stephanie Shuba defeated Emily Nunnally in three sets. It was Nunnally's first defeat of the season.
