Women's Tennis Rolls To 3-0 Over Southern Illinois

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ---- The Samford women's tennis team captured its third win in a row Saturday as its swept the Salukis of Southern Illinois, 7-0, in a morning match at the WellWorx Tennis Complex in Memphis, Tenn. The match was the first of a double-header for the Bulldog women as they would take on the Memphis Tigers later in the afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 3-0 to start the spring season. Samford swept all six singles matches with senior Anna Jackson leading off at the No. 1 spot. Jackson defeated Sabine Tsala Mvilongo, 6-4, 6-4, while fellow senior Katie Weaver defeated Andrea Courtney, 6-0, 6-2, at the No. 6 court. Rebecca Kirven defeated Martina Vianna Ce at the No. 2 position, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4), and Taylor Morgan beat Michela Cruise, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 3 court. At the No. 4 court, Andrie Meiring defeated Jessica Flannery, 6-2, 6-0, while Lindsey Mallory defeated Amanda Taillerfer, 7-6 (2), 6-1. The Bulldogs took two doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Jackson/Weaver defeated Tsala/Flannery, 8-2, while Mallory/Morgan were victorious over Cruise/Ce, 8-2. The only match won by the Salukis was at the No. 3 doubles court, where Talliefer/Balcketer defeated Kirven/Meiring, 8-3. Samford begins Ohio Valley Conference play Wednesday on the road at Jacksonville State. Match play begins at 2 p.m. Samford, 7 Southern Illinios, 0 Doubles Singles
