The Bulldogs Softball team travels to Nashville on Tuesday for an important Atlantic Sun double header with Belmont beginning at 2 p.m. The top eight teams in A-Sun are separated by just three games but only six will be invited to the conference tournament in May.

Samford carries a 22-13 overall record and 8-6 conference record into play on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are coming off a split against Stetson on Friday. Erin Landsburg threw her fourth shutout of the season against the Hatters. The Bulldog staff has thrown a school record tying eight shut outs this season. Friday's shutout was Samford's first since March 15.

Kelly Smith is batting .464 (13-18) over the last nine games with six doubles and a home run. She leads the A-Sun in doubles with 16 and is just two doubles shy of Samford's school record. Sarah Godfrey is hitting .387 with seven RBI over the last nine games. Deanna Resmondo (.366) and Trisha Holman (.326) are both hitting over .300 in conference games as a team; Samford is batting .271 against A-Sun pitching.

The Bulldogs have tied the Samford record for home runs in one season with 26 homers with 12 games still to play. The Bulldogs also hit 26 home runs in 57 games in 2000. Samford only hit 17 home runs all of last season. The Bulldogs have hit 14 home runs at home this season.

Belmont (7-29-1) snapped a nine-game losing streak with an extra inning victory over Campbell on Saturday. Belmont then dropped the night cap to fall to 4-12 in conference play. LeAnna Crandall leads the Bruins in batting with a .290 average. She has 10 doubles three triples, a home run, and 10 RBI. Heidi Lane leads the team in RBI with 15 while Jenny Swann leadss the team in home runs with two despite batting just .133. The Bruins are 11th in the A-Sun in batting with a .197 average. In the circle, Mandy Miles is 4-14 with a 4.01 ERA and Tara Allen is 3-14 with a 3.61 ERA. The Bruins are last in the A-Sun with a staff ERA of 4.15. The Bruins are the only staff with more walks than strikeouts this season.

The Bulldogs will return home on Friday to face Campbell at 4p.m.
