Las Vegas, Nevada - Samford University's Bulldog Field was named the Sports Turf Managers Association Softball Field of the Year at the Association's annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Sports Turf Managers Association grades playing fields for baseball, softball, football, and soccer and gives an annual award for each sport based on the field's playability, appearance of playing surface, organization of maintenance program, uses of facility that impact playing surface, and innovative solutions to playing surface problems.

"This is a great honor for our program," said Head Coach Mark Voisard. "We work very hard to keep the field in the best condition possible for our players to preform at their best. We are very proud of our field and the people who have helped to maintain it, especially Joe Collins who is our field turf manager, and make it one of the nicest playing surfaces in the country."

Past winners of this award include Illinois State's Redbird Softball Complex and The University of California's softball field.
