TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Tennessee Tech defeated Samford 3-0 in the consolation game of the Bama Bash softball tournament Sunday morning at the Alabama Softball Complex.

Tennessee Tech (1-4) scored a run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth inning and rode the right arm of Adrinne Fortman who pitched the two-hit shut out while walking no one and striking out two.

Samford (1-6) had defeated Tennessee Tech in the round robin portion of the tournament but could not get the bats going on Sunday. Janet Middleton had a single in the second inning and Michelle Wright led off the third inning with a single but the Bulldogs could not get a base runner further than second base in the game.

Brianne Mertens took the loss to fall to 1-3 giving up six hits in six innings of work. She struck out four, all in the first two innings.

Samford will return home on Wednesday as the Bulldogs will host Chattanooga in a double header that will begin at 3 p.m.
