Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Against Tennessee Tech
Nov. 1, 2001 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - - The Samford Soccer team will celebrate senior night during its final home and regular season game at 6 p.m. Friday at the Samford Soccer Field. The Bulldogs (7-9-2) will face future Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee Tech (12-5) in a make-up game originally scheduled for Sept. 14. It will be the final home game for seniors Carrie Ollom and Christa Jones. Ollom has started four years in net for the Bulldogs and holds every Samford goalkeeping record including minutes played, shots, saves, GAA and shutouts. Jones has played in 62 games in four years. In her career, she has four goals, two assists and 10 points. Freshman Lindsay Shanks has scored nine goals on the season to tie the single-season record set by sophomore Hayley Kolb in 2000. Shanks will try to break the record as well as add to her single-season record for points (23), which she set against Alabama A&M last Friday. Kolb needs just one goal to tie the record and two goals to break the record.
Samford looks to end the regular season with a win before heading to play in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament next week in Orlando, Fla. The Bulldogs will enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will play on Thursday Nov. 8 against either FAU, Jacksonville or Campbell.
