BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The soccer match between Samford University and Jacksonville State University will be played as scheduled tonight at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field in Jacksonville.

The Bulldogs will be looking to snap a two-match losing streak as it opens Atlantic Sun play tonight. The last two Samford/Jacksonville State match ups have gone into overtime. JSU won last year's meeting 1-0 in Birmingham.

In four seasons, the Bulldogs have not lost their conference opener. Samford is 3-0-1 in conference openers. The Bulldogs defeated Troy State three times, 6-4 in 1997, 5-0 in 1998 and 3-0 in 2000. Samford tied Jacksonville State 2-2 in two overtimes in 1999.
