COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Samford's soccer opener against 11th-ranked Texas A&M has been postponed due to heavy rains in College Station this week.

Six inches of rain over the past week have made Aggie Field unplayable for Friday night's opener. Samford will now open the season on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Montevallo at 7 p.m. Texas A&M will try to open the season on Sunday, Sept. 2, against top-ranked North Carolina.

Samford and Texas A&M will reschedule the match. So far a date has not been announced, but both team are looking at early October for the make up. This is the first time Samford has had to postpone a soccer game due to rain.
