Santos, Brazil - Samford University wrapped up its week in Brazil with a 2-1 victory over Santos Friday night in front of televison cameras at one of the most famous clubs in Brazil.

Santos is the club that the great Pele played for while he was a member of the Brazilian National Team. Santos took a 1-0 lead on the Bulldogs in the first half as Samford started the match sluggish after a three and a half hour bus ride.

A full Samford squad made its comeback in the second half. In the 65th minute, Lindsay Shanks scored her second goal of the trip off an assist from Lisa Stucki. One minute later, Christina Dortch headed a ball passed the Santos keeper off a free kick by Stucki to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 victory.

Samford finishes the trip with a 6-4 record over the ten games. The Bulldogs will say good-bye to Brazil on Saturday and are due to arrive back in Birmingham Sunday afternoon.

Samford will now focus its attention to classes, which begin on Monday, and to the nation's 11th ranked team, Texas A&M. The Bulldogs will open the 2001 season in College Station, Texas on Aug. 31, against the Aggies.
