ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University scored three first half goals on its way to a 4-1 victory over the #6 seed Samford University in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Soccer Tournament at UCF on Thursday.

Samford's Lisa Robishaw opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when she took a throw in from Heather Pomper and put it past FAU goalkeeper Molly Keating. However, Florida Atlantic answered the goal just 15 seconds later when Rhonda Jones found the back of the net from 15 yards out off an assist from Kari Kaiser.

FAU went ahead for good in the 30th minute. Lisanne Peart scored on a redirected pass from Brandi Herrmann and the third-seeded Owls never looked back. Jones scored her second goal of the half in the 39th minute off a corner kick by Janine Aylward to give FAU a, 3-1, halftime lead.
