BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell netted two goals in the second half to defeat Samford 2-1 Saturday at the Eakes Athletic Complex in an Atlantic Sun Conference match.

Camel midfielder Jessica Simon scored the game's first goal in the 68th minute on an assist from Sara Davis. Simon received a pass from Davis in the box and blasted home her third goal of the year from 15 yards out.

In the 79th minute of play Davis put Campbell up 2-0 when she scored on an assist from defender Danielle Hange. Davis played a thru ball from Hange and placed the ball in the right corner of the goal.

Samford answered in the 86th minute of play when Hayley Kolb scored an unassisted goal. Kolb intercepted a pass and knocked a shot past CU keeper Jamie Olson for her seventh goal of the season. Olson, a junior from Chambersburg, Pa., replaced Erin Switalski who left early in the second half due to injury.

Campbell improves to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in Atlantic Sun competition, while Samford falls to 6-9-1 and 3-5-1 in the conference.The Camels outshot the Bulldogs 20-9. Campbell's Switalski recorded three saves, while Samford's Carrie Ollom and Cassie Goggins combined on nine stops. The Bulldogs return home Wednesday for their final Atlantic Sun conference game. Samford hosts Belmont at 6 p.m.
