Box Score

DeLand, Fla. - Lisa Robishaw scored two goals to lead visiting Samford to a 5-1 victory over Stetson Thursday in an Atlantic Sun Conference match at the Stetson Soccer Complex. The Bulldogs improve to 5-4 overall, 2-0 in the conference. The Hatters fall to 3-6, 1-4.

Stetson controlled the run of play early and broke through with the game's first tally as Dana Metzgar scored off of a corner kick from Emma Astrom at the 15:03 mark. Metzgar's goal was her first of the season.

Samford, however, quickly took control of the match. Hayley Kolb scored her fifth goal of the season when her corner kick hooked towards the net and just crossed over the goal line to tie the match. A minute and a half later, Robishaw converted on a breakaway on a pass from Krista Jones from the right side of the field to give Samford a 2-1 lead. Kathy Nichols made it 3-1 late in the first half with a 40-yard free kick that sailed over the head of goalkeeper Christa Kennon. It was the first goal of Nichols career.

Robishaw and Lindsay Shanks added insurance goals in the second half for the Bulldogs. Shanks leads the team with six goals on the year. Heather Pomper assisted on Robishaw's third tally of the season while Kolb assisted on final goal of the match.

Samford outshot Stetson 26-14. Carrie Ollom made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs in 61 minutes of work. Crystal Royall spent 29 shut-out minutes in the Samford net. Jackie Soligan stopped five shots in relief of Kennon for the Hatters.

Samford will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday to face the defending conference champion Dolphins. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. (CDT).
