Ryan has been a mainstay on defense . . . one of the best one-on-one defenders on the team . . . a great organizer in the back . . . distributes the ball well on the counter attack . . . wins balls in the air and on the ground . . . does a terrific job of stepping up to slow down opponents. 2003: Saw time in 18 games and started 10 of them . . . provided upper-class leadership to a young defense that was ranked ninth in the country in shutout percentage (.619) and tied for fourth nationally with 13 team shutouts . . . took seven shots, including two shots against both Mercer on Sept. 20 and at Morehead State on Oct. 24. 2002: Earned second-team All-Atlantic Sun honors . . . has not missed a start in 41 matches . . . moved to sweeper position, where she anchored a Bulldog defense that allowed just 24 goals in 21 matches (1.11 goals-against average) . . . recorded three assists on the season, against Birmingham-Southern, Georgia State and Gardner-Webb. 2001: Started all 20 games as a freshman . . . scored two goals on the season against Florida Atlantic on Oct. 11 and Alabama A&M on Oct. 26 . . . took 13 shots from her defensive midfield position. High School: A four-year starter at Mountlake Terrace HS . . . was an All-WESCO and All-Area selection as well as the leading scorer her last season, averaging almost a goal a game . . . named MTHS co-captain and winner of the Captain's Award . . . member of the NW Nationals soccer club, where she won a Washington state Championship and advanced to the Far West Regionals.
