SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

My favorite Samford memory is:
It would have to be a combination of two nights from freshman year. We had just won the OVC regular season and tournament championships and as tradition was we were going to roll Coach's house. Our job as freshmen was to locate and recover the tremendous amount of toilet paper necessary for the task ahead. Not only did we get enough toilet paper to absolutely turn Coach's house, trees and yard snow white, but we also found a selection of trophies that Campus Rec was going to throw away to ornament his yard for the special occasion. At first we weren't too thrilled about having to come up with large amounts of toilet paper, but it actually turned into quite an exciting adventure itself. It was one of the nights I will never forget. Then the big night came. We were proud of our toilet paper accomplishment as we arrived at Sara Geiger's house dressed for attack. We not only had enough for Coach's house, but we also supplied enough toilet paper to successfully cover Jay Yelton's yard as well with plenty to spare. We got his house, his trees, his car and his yard to the extreme. I don't think you could even see any grass. The highlight of the night was when Coach was on his front porch with a carton of eggs being hurled at our cars as we made our brilliant escape!

The one thing I'll miss the most about Samford soccer is:
I will definitely miss the girls the most! These girls have meant so much to me, more than anyone who hasn't been a part of this team could ever imagine. The soccer has been a huge part of my life these past four years, but the relationships that I've made will last a lifetime. I know that if I ever needed anything, I could call up any of the girls and have someone there for me in a heartbeat. It's something about the commitment, the road trips and the hard nights of practice. It was all of the amazingly fun and even the not so fun experiences that bring us all together. It's the commonalities among us all and the dream to be a team and play for each other that makes everything so special. My class holds an extra special place in my heart as well. Coach may say we're weird, but it's been crazy how close we've remained all four years. These girls have taught me so much about friendship, relationships, pursuing the Lord and just living life and enjoying the memories we make along the way. I've made the greatest friends in the world and I can't wait to all be in each other's weddings! The friendships that are made on the team and the true family that we have become is what makes Samford soccer so wonderful and rewarding.

The most important thing I can tell incoming freshmen is:
The most important thing I can tell incoming freshmen is to be involved. School and soccer take a lot of time, and both are definitely commitments that must be taken seriously, but neither should keep you from participating in campus life. There are so many fun things to be involved in. You will love the soccer girls and being a part of the team, but getting involved allows you to meet all kinds of really fun people outside of class and soccer, and that leads to fan support! Plus, you get to try new and exciting things you may never have gotten to do before. By getting involved as a freshman, you can meet people and learn all about Samford and the things offered right off the bat. You'll be glad you did, I promise.
