Ian Thompson Resigns After Nine Years On Golf Staff

July 11, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ian Thompson, who served on the Samford University golf coaching staff for the past nine years, recently resigned from his position to pursue other interests.

"We appreciate all that Ian did to promote and improve the Samford golf programs during his tenure, particularly his work with our women's teams over this period," Samford Director of Athletics Bob Roller said. "He is a dedicated Samford alumnus and one who cared deeply about the student-athletes he coached."

Thompson was the head coach of the women's team for eight seasons, and he spent one season as an assistant coach with both the men's and women's teams.
