Women's Golf Finish In Ninth Place At JSU Fall Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Samford women's golf team competed Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 4-5 at the Jacksonville Fall Classic. The Bulldogs finished in ninth place overall out of 13 teams entered in this event. East Tennessee State took the competition with a final score of 614, while the Bulldogs posted a score of 682.

"We did really well in day two of competition," said head coach Ian Thompson. "Our team is suffering some health issues, but we are trying to maintain them and work hard. I am really proud of the performance of this team as well as Warr and Barriento."

In day one, Samford finished with a shot of 352 for 10th place, as Austin Peay and Troy State tied for eighth with a shot of 343.

In day two, the Bulldogs completed the competition with a shot of 614, as the Bulldogs fired a shot of 330.

For this event, Courtney Warr (89-80) shot a 169, Kelly Villarreal (83-87) and Tricia Harlow (89-81) fired a 170 each, Brooke Barriento (91-82) shot a 173 and Kelly Stout (93-89) fired a 182.

The women's golf team will next compete on Oct. 18-19 at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate in Cullowhee, N.C.
