Women's Golf Concludes Day Two At Lady Paladin Invitational In 13th Place

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Samford University women's golf team carded a second-round score of 324 on Saturday as the Bulldogs moved into 13th place at the 38th Lady Paladin Invitational being hosted by Furman University at the par 72, 6,199-yard Furman University Golf Course. Senior Katelyn Stanier paced Samford with a day two score of 79, while Sara Hunt followed with an 80. Through 36 holes of the prestigious 54-hole tournament, Stanier is tied for 11th place in the individual standings with a total of 154. Hunt, the Bulldogs' senior from Columbia, Tenn., has tallied a two-day mark of 162 (82-80). Samford's Heather Arnold has posted the team's second best score this weekend. A native of Lenior City, Tenn., the Bulldogs' Arnold currently owns a 36-hole score of 161. Rounding out Samford's scoring Saturday was Sarah Butts with an 82 and true freshman Kayla Turner with an 86. Sandra Changkija (75-72=147) fired an even-par 72 to help Nova Southeastern (306-305=611), the defending Division II national champion, take sole possession of the lead after two rounds. Campbell (315-300=615) is four strokes back in second place while Furman (320-297=617) trails the Sharks by six strokes after 36 holes. Saturday's second round, much like Friday's 18 holes, was played with wet course conditions and periods of rain throughout the day. With 18 holes remaining, 30 golfers are within nine strokes of the leader and seven teams are within 16 strokes of the tournament-leading Sharks. Sunday's final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CDT). Nova Southeastern, Campbell and Furman will comprise the final five pairings and tee-off on holes 1-3.
