DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Samford's women's golf team improved by three shots in the final round, and fininshed ninth out of 12 teams at the Atlantic Sun Championships. Kelly Villarreal led the Bulldogs wire to wire, and finished tied for 24th.

Georgia State, which led from start to finish, scored a low-round of 299 on Wednesday to win the school's first A-Sun Women's Golf Championship with a team-total score of 903. FAU finished second with a 921 and Jax State posted its best finish in A-Sun Tournament history with a 922.

GSU's Lisbeth Meincke stuck a 150-yard second shot to within two-feet to win medallist honors on the third hole of a sudden death playoff with teammate Sam White after both players finished the 54-hole event with a score of 220. FAU's Anne Fraser finished third with a total score of 226, followed by JSU's Moran and Jacksonville University's Ashley Grier 229 to round out the top five.
