HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The women's golf team finished in 12th place with a score of 976 (322-325-329) to end competition at the Southern Mississippi Lady Eagles Invitational. Birmingham-Southern won the tournament crown with a score of 879, while Southern Mississippi shot 903 for second and Middle Tennessee State carded 904 for third.

"There were some really good teams at this tournament," said head coach Ian Thompson. "Now we will look forward to hosting the OVC Golf Championship, April 18-20."

For the three-round event, Samford's Kelly Villarreal was the top Bulldog performer as she finished with a total score of 234 (77-78-79). Kelly Stout carded 242 (82-78-82), while Tricia Harlow shot 245 (80-80-85) and Ashleigh Hicks posted 260 (83-89-88).

The Bulldog will play host to the OVC Golf Championships on April 18-20 in Decatur, Ala. The men's teams will compete at the Burningtree Golf Club, while women's teams will compete at the Decatur Country Club.
