MOBILE, Ala. - The Samford women's golf team participated in the first round of the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by the University of South Alabama on Monday.

Samford was led by Kelly Stout with a 77 in the first round, tying her for 18th overall with one day remaining in the tournament. As a team, Samford shot a 336, placing them in a tie for 14th after round one of the tournament. McNeese State leads the tournament with a 298, while Middle Tennessee is in second with a 300.

"Kelly really played solid golf today," Samford head coach Ian Thompson said. "She is establishing herself as our low scorer, and I expect the same out of her tomorrow."

Following Stout for Samford, Tricia Harlow is tied for 52nd heading into the second round after shooting 82 in round one. Kelly Villarreal shot an 86, tying her for 73rd, while Courtney Warr tied for 84th with a 91. Christine Sparks shot a 98 in the first round, placing her 91st overall.

The tournament will resume Tuesday morning. The second day is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
