Women's Golf Finishes 9th out of 14 Teams

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Samford shot a 358-353=711 and finished in 8th place at the Southern Shootout at Greystone Golf Club. Kelly Villarreal was the top Bulldog, shooting 88-84=172, good for 19th place.

Christine Sparks (82-93=175) competed as an individual, and finished in 26th. Tricia Harlow improved on the second day, shooting an 86 after an opening round 95. Harlow finished 40th. Kelly Stout shot 88-95=183 (45th). Tara Clayton (87-97=184) and Sara Gossum (96-88=184) tied for 46th.

Jacksonville State placed four golfers in the top-11 finishers, including individual titlist Angie Green, as the Gamecocks won the Second-Annual Henry Griffitts Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday. Green fired a second-round best 78, matching her first round total, to jump from a tie for fourth place after round one to win.
