Women's Basketball Travels To Florida State Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on the Florida State Seminoles Thursday night. Samford enters the game with a record of 7-4 overall and 1-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play after a 62-60 win over Murray State on Dec. 20. FSU is currently 8-3 after a 66-52 win at UAB on Dec. 20. Samford's top two scorers and leading rebounder so far this season are freshmen. Freshman guard Emily London leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points per game, while freshman forward Savannah Hill is second, averaging 9.5 points per game. Hill also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.9 boards per contest. Senior guard Taryn Towns is the team-leader in assists, dishing out 3.1 assists per game, while London is second in the category, with an average of 2.8 per contest. Thursday night's game marks the first meeting between Samford and Florida State in women's basketball. However, Samford has an all-time record of 0-3 against the current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Bulldogs have faced Georgia Tech (0-2) and Miami (0-1) from the ACC.
Thursday night's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. Central Time start from the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee.
