Nov. 15, 2001 BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- - Samford University Head Women's Basketball Coach Janet Cone has announced the signing of Chelsee Insell and Cora Beth Smith to National Letters-of-Intent Thursday. Insell is a 5-10 shooting guard from Gallatin High School in Gallatin, Tenn., averaged 18.6 points per game as a junior. She also led her team in assists and rebounds. "Chelsee does all the things to help a team win," says Cone. "She can shoot the three-point shot, she can penetrate, and she can guard the opponents best player." Smith is a 5-7 point guard from Oakland High School in Milton, Tenn. Smith averaged 13 points, four assists, and three steals as a junior. "Cora is a quick point guard who can score off penetration or set up her teammates," says Cone. "She is a good ball handler, is aggressive on defense, and is very athletic."
"We are very excited about signing these two players. They are both excellent players who have the ability to add depth to our guard position next season." said Cone.
