Bulldogs End Season With 89-72 Loss To FAU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Kristy Halvorsen scored 22 points and Janka Deckerova scored 20 points to lead Florida Atlantic to an 89-72 victory over Samford in Atlantic Sun women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Seibert Hall.

The game was the final game for Samford seniors Clarissa Clark and Tara Enoch. Clark scored a team-high 12 points on 3-4 shooting from the floor, she was also 5-6 from the free-throw line. Enoch finished her career with five points and five rebounds. Sarah Clement added 11 points and Che' Walker had a career-high 10 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for Samford.

Halvorsen was the leader for FAU, which improves to 15-13 on the year and 13-7 in the Atlantic Sun. Halvorsen, scored most of her points off of offensive rebounds. She had nine of her game-high 16 rebounds on the offensive glass. She also went 8-12 from the free throw line. Deckerova went 4-10 from three-point range off the bench. FAU out rebounded the Bulldogs 48-39 and 23-9 on the offensive glass.

Samford (3-24, 2-18) committed 32 turnovers that prevented any chance of a comeback. The Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the floor in the game but just 61 percent from the free throw line. The game had 61 fouls called as three FAU players fouled out and six players finished the game with four fouls. 35 fouls were called against FAU, but Samford only went 26-43 from the line. The Bulldogs were whistled for 26 fouls. FAU shot 69 percent (22-32) from the line. The Lady Owls scored 27 points off Samford turnovers as FAU lead 27-11 in points off turnovers and 26-7 in second chance points.
