TROY, Ala. - The Samford Bulldogs committed 29 turnovers to allow Troy State to overcome a 53-39 second half deficit as the Lady Trojans took a 68-59 Trans America Athletic Conference victory at Trojan Arena Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (2-10, 1-2 TAAC) led 53-39 after a made jump shot by Giovanni Price with 10:56 remaining in the game. Troy State's Tomekia Golatte would led the Lady Trojans (4-6, 1-2 TAAC) on a 17-0 run over the next 7:22 to give TSU a 56-53 lead . Samford's Aimee Cochran would hit a three-point shot to tie the game at 56-56 with 3:34 to play for the Bulldogs only made field goal in the final 11 minutes. Troy State would finish the game with a 12-3 run to win going away. Samford's only points in the final 3:34 came on three free throws by Wendi Wilcox with 22 seconds..

Cochran scored a game-high 16 points, 13 in the first half, and tied a career high with 10 rebounds before fouling out with 32 seconds remaining in the game. Samford freshman Sarah Clement scored a career-high 13 points before fouling out with 5:42 and Price added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Golatte led Troy State with 15 points, Chaquita Alexander scored 14 points, and Jennifer McInnis added 12 points. Golatte and Alexander each scored 10 points in the second half.

Samford held a 37-27 lead at halftime and led in rebounding 27-19. In the second half, Troy State out rebounded Samford 26-15 and 14-3 on the offensive boards. The Lady Trojans out scored the Bulldogs 20-6 on second chance points and 32-22 in the paint.

"I have never seen anything like that," said Samford head coach Janet Cone. "We completely stopped doing what we had been doing in the first half."

The Bulldogs will travel to Macon, Ga. on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against Mercer while Troy State will host Jacksonville State on Saturday.
