Amber Deline begins her second season as an assistant coach at Samford after serving as an assistant coach at Montevallo since August of 2003.

"We are very excited to have Amber join our basketball family," head coach Mike Morris said. "Having known her for several years, I believe she will be an outstanding asset for our basketball team."

At Montevallo, Deline was involved in all aspects of the women's basketball program. Her duties included on-floor coaching, recruiting, scheduling, scouting, team travel, strength and conditioning and post-player development.

She also served as the faculty representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Montevallo and she directed the program's basketball camps.

Deline is a 2003 graduate of the University of North Alabama with a B.S. degree in health, physical education and recreation.

She was a member of the Lions' women's basketball team from 2000-03, and she holds career records for scoring (1,622 pts.), rebounding (756), free throws made (476), free throws attempted (674) and most times scoring in double figures (82).

She was a four-time All-Gulf South Conference selection and was named to the 2000 Division II Bulletin Freshman All-America team. Deline was named the 2000 GSC Freshman of the Year and the 2003 UNA Female Athlete of the Year.

Deline is a native of Hackleburg, Ala., and she has hosted a basketball camp in her hometown since 2003.

She is scheduled to finish her Master's of Education degree from Montevallo this fall.
