Misner and Nunnally receive Honorable Mention All-Conference Awards
May 3, 2002 MACON, Ga. - Samford University's David Misner and Emily Nunnally were each voted to the Atlantic Sun Tennis All-Conference teams as honorable mentions on Friday. Misner, a senior from Greenville, Miss., went 11-11 on the year at number one singles for the Bulldogs leading Samford to an 11-13 overall record. Misner finished his career with a 48-24 overall mark playing the last two seasons at No. 1 for the Bulldogs. Nunnally, a sophomore from Hattiesburg, Miss, posted a 15-8 mark at No. 1 singles leading Samford to a 13-11 season. She is now 29-17 in just two seasons at Samford. She and teammate Courtney Collins posted a 14-7 mark at No. 1 doubles. Georgia State University's Matias Ormaza earned both Men's Player and Freshman of the Year honors. Panther coach Sten van Beurden, was voted Men's Coach of the Year. Also earning All-Conference honors were GSU's Albano Franco, Belmont's Augusto Ricciardi, Campbell's Andreas Mardbrink, UCF's Catalin Bradu and Gabriel Strangberg, FAU's Doug Devriendt, and Martin Jirak, Stetson's Pierro Demichelli and TSU's Pablo Martinez. All are their teams respective #1 players with the exception of Strangberg, Jirak, and Franco who are their team's respective #2 players. Jacksonville's Ben Birkmann joined Misner as honorable mention award winners.
On the women's side, The University of Central Florida's Emmanuelle Sauze
picked up both Player and Freshman of the Year honors and Head Coach
Patricia Allison was named Coach of the Year. Joining Sauze on the team is Campbell's Teodora Doncheva, FAU's Alena Dvorakova, GSU's Klara Miklikova and Maria Soerensen, Jacksonville State's Sally Pearson, Jacksonville's Mami Inoue, and Troy State's Luisa Lopez and Jayne Hutchinson. Honorable mention honors were awarded to
players named on at least two ballots. Belmont's Alba Garcia, UCF's Anna
Westin, FAU's Maria Aguirre-Gomez, Stetson's Jackie Bohannon and Nunnally each received awards.
