Men's Tennis Heads To Texas For First Half Of Two Week Road Swing

March 26, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men's tennis will head west this weekend for the first half of a five-match road swing. The Bulldogs take on some tough competition in UT-San Antonio and New Mexico State.

The Bulldogs are fresh off a 5-2 win over Mercer this past weekend. The win helped Samford improve to 8-4 on the season and extend its win streak to six in a row. The Bulldogs no longer lead the conference standing but are in a close race with Tennessee Tech for the top spot.

The first opponent for the Samford men will be UT-San Antonio on Thursday, March 27 at noon. The match will be the first of two for the Bulldogs at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners are out of the Southland Conference and enter Thursday's match with Samford after a 4-3 loss to UT Arlington. The loss snapped a three-match win streak and left the Roadrunners with a 5-9 overall record.

The Bulldogs will then play New Mexico State at the UTSA Tennis Center, Friday morning at 11 a.m. The Aggies come off a 4-0 win over Oral Roberts and have won four of their last five matches. New Mexico State is 7-5 overall and 2-0 in WAC play.

A full recap and results will be available on www.samfordsports.com at the conclusion of each match.
