Samford Men Advance Past JSU

MACON, Ga. - Samford University defeated Jacksonville State 4-0 in opening round action at the 2001 TAAC Men's Tennis Championships on Thursday. Samford's No. 1 doubles team of David Misner and Raphael Bohli clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs winning 8-3. In singles play, Misner defeated JSU's Rian Greaves 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the match. Colin Thompson and Travis Johnson recorded victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the Bulldogs. The rest of the matches were ended once Samford took an insurmountable 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs (14-12) move into the second round and will face top-seeded Florida Atlantic at 9 a.m. ET Friday morning. JSU finishes the season with a 5-15 overall record. #8 Samford 4, #9 Jacksonville State 0
