April 9, 2008
NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---- The Samford men's and women's tennis teams both continued their undefeated Ohio Valley Conference streaks with wins over the Tennessee State Tigers Wednesday. Both squads sweep the Tigers in 7-0 matches, leaving TSU winless on the season. The Samford women (15-5, 7-0 OVC) began by sweeping the doubles point. No. 1 duo Taylor Morgan and Lindsey Mallory took eight straight points from Megan Haynes and Penelope Johnson as did No. 2 duo Andrie Meiring and Rebecca Kirven. Reidenbach won by default at the No. 6 court. In men's action, Samford took at three doubles matches to get a 1-0 advantage to start the match off. Jordan Delass and Adam Witcher along with Carl Abalos and Richard Walsh earned 8-1 victories at the first two doubles courts. No. 3 duo Brian Dushock and Kelwin Dewet won by default.
Abalos defeated Justin Hamm at the No. 1 court (6-1, 6-2) while Witcher beat Aaron Fields (6-1, 6-4) at the No. 2 court and Dushock defeated Jaala Brooks (6-0, 6-1) at the no. 4 court.
