Birmingham Southern Nets Victory Over Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham Southern's Jenny Timmis defeated Samford's Katherine Jayroe 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the only match to go three sets to give the Lady Panthers a 4-3 victory over Samford at the Samford Tennis Courts. Samford took the doubles point and Emily Nunnally and Courtney Collins took singles victories but BSC took the final four matches for the victory. On the men's side, BSC took a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs. Raphael Bohli defeated Paul Thoesen 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for Samford's only win of the day. The best match of the day was at No. 6 singles Ron Johnson defeated Joey Jensen 7-6, 7-5 in a match which saw long rally afer long rally. Bohli teamed with David Misner at No. 1 doubles to defeat Nils Hanchen and Thoesen 8-2 but BSC took the other two doubles sets for the point. Samford will face Jacksonville State on Friday at 2 p.m. in a match made up from March 20. BSC 6, Samford 1
