Men's Tennis Falls At UT-San Antonio, 4-3

SAN ANTONIO, Texas ---- The Samford men's tennis team had its six-match win streak snapped Thursday afternoon as it fell to UT-San Antonio in the first match of a five-match road swing. The Roadrunners defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. Samford is now 8-5 while UTSA moves to 6-10. Samford's Hank Grant and Sam Huffman won the only doubles match for the Bulldogs at the No. 2 spot. The duo defeated Robin Fernandez and Rodrigo Morgado, 8-3. Renan Silveira and Jordan Delass fell at the No. 1 court, 8-3, while Richard Walsh and Brian Dushock fell, 8-6, in the No. 3 position. Silveira, Dushock and Walsh won singles matches at the No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 courts, respectively. Silveira defeated Fernandez in three sets (3-6, 7-6, 6-4) for a come-from-behind win. Dushock beat Maxx Stratmann, 6-4, 6-2, while Walsh downed Hermann Moran, 6-0, 6-1. The Bulldogs will take on New Mexico State Friday at 11 a.m., in San Antonio at the UTSA Tennis Center.
