Samford Men Sweep Friday Match From Pfeiffer, Top Davidson Saturday

MISENHEIMER, N.C. ---- The Samford men's tennis team won their second and third matches of the season Friday and Saturday, sweeping the Falcons of Pfeiffer University, 7-0, and defeating Davidson College, 5-2. The Bulldogs are now 3-1 (1-0 OVC) on the season.

Friday against Pfeiffer, all three Bulldog duos gained the doubles point, defeating their opponents, 8-1, in each match. Renan Silveira and Sam Huffman defeated AJ Flores and Frank Pouchet in the No. 1 court. Samford's No. 2 duo, Stuart Misner and Hank Grant defeated Pfeiffer pair Guilherme Chiaramonti and TJ Maurer, while the Bulldogs' No. 3 pair defeated Falcon tandem Daniel Morehead and Cody Simpson.

On Saturday, Davidson took the doubles point from the Bulldogs, winning two out of three. Silveira and Huffman were victorious again at the No. 1 spot, defeating Ethan Jaffee and Sam Burns, 8-2. However, Misner/Grant and Miletic/Dushock dropped their matches against Davidson opponents with scores of 8-5 and 8-3, respectively.

The Samford men won five out of the six singles matches with Silveira, Misner, Miletic, Huffman and Grant coming away with the five wins.

Samford will wrap up its road weekend against No. 37 South Carolina at 2 p.m. on Sunday. For full results from the match, visit www.samfordsports.com.
