CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Seth Mobley shot even-par 72 to lead the individual competition and the Samford men's golf team is second after the first round of the Precept Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Clarksville Country Club.

Samford and host Austin Peay battled for the top four spots in the first round, as Mobley (72) claimed first place by one stroke over teammate Bradley Farmer and Austin Peay State's Ryan Strickland and Joe Humston. Russell Kelly joined Mobley and Farmer in the top half of the individual standings, shooting 75 to tie for sixth. Mike Clements and Andy McRae both fired rounds of 80 to tie at 22nd.

Mobley has shot even par over his last three rounds and the Bulldogs are in position to claim their second consecutive tournament championship, coming off last weekend's win at Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs (300) fared well in the first round against four future Ohio Valley Conference opponents, which include the leader Austin Peay State (296), Murray State (309) in third place and Tennessee Tech (317) in sixth.

The tournament's team standings heading into Tuesday's round were as follows:

Austin Peay State (296)

Samford (300)

Murray State (309)

Xavier (311)

IU-Purdue U.-Indy (314)

Tennessee Tech (317)
