Men's Golf Heads To Georgia For Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University men's golf team will continue play in its 2009 fall campaign Monday at 7:30 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs travel to Savannah, Ga., for the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate (October 19-20). The 15-team field will challenge for the title, contested at the Savannah Quarters Country Club. Showcasing the tournament will be: Samford, Armstrong Atlantic State, Davidson, East Carolina, Elon, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Georgia State & College, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Old Dominion, Troy, Winthrop, Wofford, as well as tournament-host Georgia Southern. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes Monday and then 18 holes in the final round Tuesday. The tournament begins with a shotgun start Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. (CDT). For the second year, the fall tournament will be challenged at Savannah Quarters Country Club, a Greg Norman-designed course that is a par 72, 7,016 yard layout. The Bulldogs' 2009-10 roster boasts five returning letterwinners and four highly-touted true freshmen. Samford's senior class consists of Jeremy Cox and Alex Harper, while returning juniors Tyler Baird, Martin Bunt and Houston Hough will also add leadership to the squad. The Bulldogs don't have any sophomores on this year's team, but talented incoming freshmen Drew Aimone, Gabe Hyde, Bill Nabors and Casey O'Toole will be looked upon to contribute immediately.
Head coach Woodie Eubanks is in the midst of his seventh season at the helm of the Samford men's golf program. Assistant coach Ryan Mayberry is in his second season on the coaching staff.
