Men's Golf Eighth afterRound 1 at WCU Tournament
Oct. 1, 2001 WAYNESVILLE, NC - Samford University Sophomore Andy McRae shot a 5-over-par 77 to place in a tie for 13th and the Bulldogs shot 317 to place eighth of 12 teams at the Western Carolina University-Laurel Ridge Intercollegiate tournament on Monday. McRae's 77 was only four strokes behind a pair of 73s fired by Radford's Marty Stanley and Eric Hooke. Mike Clements followed McRae with a 79, and Seth Mobley (80), Bradley Farmer (81) and Russell Kelly (84) rounded out the Bulldog roster.
Despite the two leaders, Radford (311) placed third behind High Point's (308) and Lenior-Rhyne (310). Host WCU tied for fourth with Gardner Webb at 312, followed by Tennessee State and Catawba College at 316, Samford (317), Belmont-Abbey and South Carolina State with 317, Stetson at 320 and The Citadel at 329.
