CALHOUN, La. -- Samford's men's golf team fired a 298, the lowest score for the second consecutive round, to claim the team championship in the 15-team field of the Louisiana Tech Golf Invitational on Tuesday.

Samford (906) entered the final round in fifth place after shooting 313-295 on Monday. Monday's second round total of 295 and Tuesday's 298 were the low rounds of the tournament.

"I have never seen a better performance from this team than the one I witnessed the past two days," said Head Coach Mark Ware. "In my opinion this is the best win this program has ever enjoyed. We had some guys put up some good numbers and several players contributed to this win. I felt after yesterday that we could make a move today, and we played steady while some others put up some bigger numbers. I can't say enough about the effort of this team."

Three Bulldogs finished in the Top 20, including Mike Clements and Seth Mobley, who finished in a tie for fifth with three-round totals of 225.

Russell Kelly and Seth Mobley both fired 71 on Tuesday, following a pair of even-par 72s by Mike Clements on Monday, to propel the Bulldogs to the title.

Freshman Bradley Farmer posted his second Top-20 finish as well, shooting 231 to finish 19th. Andy McRae rounded out the Bulldog roster with a 237 total to place in a tie at No. 42.

Chattanooga (913) and Air Force (913) tied for second, followed by host Louisiana Tech (914) in fourth and Centenary (920) rounded out the tourney's Top 5.
